Ph.D., FIF (Ind.), SMIEEE (USA), FNAE, FNA, FTWAS. Prof. Nanda
was Head, Dean and Member B.O.G. at IIT Delhi, Member B.O.G.
at NSIT Delhi and Roorkee University. He was Chairman,
programme advisory committee (Electrical, Electronics &
Computers) of Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of
India, Advisor, research council of CSIR and Chairman and
Member of many high level committees at the National level on
behalf of Govt. of India. He is an Advisor to AICTE and
advisor to Ministry of Planning & Programming
implementation, Govt. of India. He was Professor in W.V.
University USA and Reader at Imperial College of Science &
Technology London. He has been a visiting Professor at number
of universities at USA, UK, Germany, France, Japan and many
other major universities in the world. He has been consultant
to GE, ABB, Siemens, NTPC, Power Grid, NDMC. He was Vice
President Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and has many
awards and honors to his credit. At present he is an INSA
Senior Scientist in the Deptt. of E.E. At IIT Delhi.

This deptt., headed by Dr. S.N.
Pandit (Ph.D. IIT, Delhi), formerly HOD (Mech.)
REC, Jalandhar has a well qualified and experienced faculty.
The programme of this deptt. is designed to meet the present
day industry needs. Students learn different mechanisms of
machines, strength of materials, design of various
mechanical elements, production processes etc. The deptt.
has a huge central workshop consisting of Machine shop,
Smithy shop, Welding shop, Carpentry shop, Fitting shop,
Sheet Metal shop as well as other fully developed labs
notably Automobiles, CAD/CAM, Fluid Machinery, Refrigeration
& Air conditioning (RAC), Heat & Mass Transfer
(HMT), Mechanics of Machines, Materials Testing, and Applied
Thermodynamics backed-up by 2 well equipped Drawing Halls. |
Deptt. of Computer
Sciences & Engg.

Backbone of this deptt. is its highly qualified faculty
members, many specializing in key areas of Computer
Science such as Compiler Design, Operating System,
Software Engg., Data Structure, DBMS, Computer
Organization, Computer Network etc.
The deptt. has one of the best infrastructure facilities
in this region of NCR. It has a state-of-the-art Computer
Center with ten labs having 500 Pentium-4 computers
connected on LAN/WAN or stand-alone mode. A separate lab
houses 50 computers connected to 256 Kbps RF connectivity,
a great motivation for students and staff to access
Internet extensively as a learning tool. |

Headed by Prof. (Dr.) B.L .Kaul,
Ph.D, (Power Systems) from the IIT Delhi, who is
also Director of SIET, Dr. Kaul was formerly Principal of
Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu &
Coordinator REC Srinagar. He has published a number of
national & international research papers & guided
Ph.D. candidates & several UG & PG thesis. He is an
Ex - member of Board of Governors, IIT Delhi. The well
developed Electrical Engg. Network, Measurement &
Electrical Machines Laboratories are notable acquisitions. |
Deptt. of Physics
The Physics department is headed by Dr B.M. Bahal, Ph. D
from IIT Kanpur. Prof Bahal's forte is experimental nuclear
and neutron physics. He has published papers in international
journals and national conferences.
The Department has well equipped laboratory and
professionally trained staff. The Physics lab has instructive
and state-of-the-art set ups which include Hall effect, Energy
band gap measurement and Hysterisis loop tracer besides
experiments prescribed by the U.P. Technical University,
Lucknow.
Deptt. of Chemistry
| It comprises a huge lab with
state-of-the-art equipment. The curriculum is enriched by
introduction of 'Environment Studies' introduced recently by
U.P. Technical University. All the major branches viz.
Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry
and Polymer Chemistry are taught by eminent faculty headed
by an renowned Chemist G.C. Mohapatra specialized in
theoretical (Quantum) chemistry from Delhi University. |

Deptt. of Humanities

The department is a matrix for developing a total, all
inclusive perspective for the students. It runs two
courses for engineering, undergraduates : Professional
Communication (1st Sem) and Communication Lab (2nd Sem) to
develop communication skills, knowledge and appreciation
as well as spoken English internationally competitive,
correct and fluent. At the MBA level, the department runs
a course on Communication for Management, to boost
communication skills for managerial jobs.
The department is headed by veteran academician Prof
G.L.Labru , formerly Professor & head, Department of
Humanities and Social sciences, R.E.C. (now N.I.T.)
Srinagar.
